St.Patrick's Day dinner from last year..

Last year we made dinner on St.Patrick's Day for my family.

It started off with J making GF Soda Bread as she has in the past. I can't find the recipe right now and we'll probably be able to find it in a few weeks as we'll be making dinner again this year.

Next up, the main attraction. That morning, we had gone to the Farmers Market and picked up some really good carrots in different varieties as you can see below.

This guy was a bit had....2 legs! It was like Eraserhead only was a carrot.

We had also bought some beef that I started braising early in the day as well as some cabbage. In the middle of cooking, I threw in the rest of the veg which were potatoes and carrots. I didn't want everything turned into mush when it was time to eat.

So, as we got into the truck, Sasha decided that she wanted to drive, but she couldn't see over the steering wheel and her paws couldn't reach everything else..

She opted to ride in the back and watch the flowers.

The main course, which was also accompanied by Red Bridge beer(GF):


Eating a meal like this really brings back memories for me. My grandmother used to make this when I was a kid. She wasn't Irish, but she did make some damn fine food no matter what the occasion.

I was wondering if you have had any luck finding a place to buy alternative flours in bulk? I also live in LA and am GF and the only place I have found is those tiny packages at WholeFoods?

Well some people may not be comfortable with this because of possible contamination issues but we do often get white rice flour, tapioca flour and potato starch from asian stores in the area- we go to this one Korean store in Glendale. If you find other sources, please let me know:)
